The individual who influences a public official or authority by taking advantage of any situation derived from his personal relationship with him or with another public official or authority to achieve a resolution that may directly or indirectly generate an economic benefit for himself or for a third party, will be punished with prison sentences of six months to two years, a fine of up to twice the benefit sought or obtained, and a prohibition on contracting with the public sector, as well as the loss of the possibility of obtaining subsidies or public aid and the right to enjoy tax and Social Security benefits or incentives for a period of six to ten years. If the desired benefit is obtained, these penalties will be imposed on the upper half.
