The authority or public official who, for his own benefit or that of a third party, receives or requests, by himself or through an intermediary, a gift, favor or remuneration of any kind or accepts an offer or promise to carry out an act of his office, will incur the prison sentence of two to four years, a fine of twelve to twenty-four months and special disqualification for employment or public office and for the exercise of the right to passive suffrage for a period of five to nine years.

Article 420 of Penal Code Spanish is regulated in the chapter on bribery and refers to the penalties that must be met by any official or public authority who accepts an offer or remuneration to carry out an act corresponding to his or her position.
