The distribution or public dissemination through the Internet, telephone or any other information or communication technology of content specifically intended to promote, encourage or incite self-harm of minors or people with disabilities in need of special protection will be punished with a prison sentence of six months to three years.

The judicial authorities will order the adoption of the necessary measures for the removal of the contents referred to in the previous paragraph, for the interruption of the services that predominantly offer said contents or for the blocking of both when located abroad.

Article 156 ter of the Penal Code Spanish refers to penalties for the distribution or public dissemination of content specifically intended to promote, encourage or incite self-harm by minors or people with disabilities.

Following the update published on 06/05/2021 that enters into force on 06/25/2021, article 156 ter is modified by final provision 6.14 of Organic Law 8/2021, of June 4. Previously, he said the following:

Those convicted of committing one or more crimes included in this Title, when the victim is one of the people referred to in section 2 of article 173, may also be subject to a measure of supervised release.
